Teen Ride Guidelines

Freedom for teens. Peace of mind for parents.

GoVelo Teen Rides lets teens (ages 13–17) request their own rides under a parent or guardian's supervision. Accepting these guidelines means your teen is ready to ride safely and responsibly.

What are GoVelo Teen Rides?

A teen account lets your teen request their own rides — all under a parent or guardian's supervision. Teens are matched with highly rated, background-checked drivers, and every trip includes always-on safety features like PIN verification and live trip tracking.

Community principles

Respect each other

Treat every driver and rider with courtesy. No discrimination, harassment, or hateful conduct — from anyone, at any time.

Follow the law

Obey all traffic laws and local rules. No illegal activity, open containers, or drug use in the vehicle.

Help keep each other safe

Buckle up, stay focused, verify your ride, and never do anything that puts the driver, yourself, or others at risk.

Communicate thoughtfully

Be considerate in every message. No inappropriate advances, threats, or abusive language toward your driver or our team.

Always-on safety features

PIN verification

Drivers cannot start the trip until they enter the unique PIN your teen shares. This makes sure your teen gets into the right car.

Live trip tracking

Parents and guardians follow the trip in real time, with notifications when the ride is requested, in progress, and at dropoff.

Destination-locked trips

Drivers cannot change the destination of a teen trip — only the teen can. Unexpected route changes trigger an alert.

Highly rated drivers

Every driver matched to a teen trip is experienced, highly rated, background-checked, and re-screened annually.

For teens

Verify your ride

Match the license plate, car make, and driver photo before getting in. Always confirm the Ride Match PIN when prompted — drivers cannot start the trip without it.

Share your trip

Live trip tracking is always on for your parent or guardian so they can follow along from pickup to dropoff. Trips are destination-locked — only you can change the destination.

Be ready for pickup

Be at the curb within a few minutes of your driver arriving. Repeated no-shows may result in fees or account limits.

Ride solo or with approved friends

Only one additional passenger (also aged 13–17) may ride with you, and your parent or guardian must approve. Never ride with strangers you added on your own.

No prohibited items

No alcohol, tobacco, drugs, weapons, or anything illegal. Age-restricted items are filtered out and cannot be ordered.

Rate fairly

Leave honest, respectful ratings and feedback. Never use ratings to retaliate or extort.

For drivers on teen trips

Drive safely

Follow all traffic laws, speed limits, and road signs. Your driving safety score is tracked — reckless driving can limit your access to teen trips.

Background-checked & highly rated

Only highly rated, experienced drivers who pass a thorough background check and annual re-screening are matched with teen trips.

Verify the PIN

Confirm the teen Ride Match PIN before starting the trip. Never start a trip without the correct PIN.

Destination-locked trips

You cannot change the destination of a teen trip — only the teen can. Do not deviate from the route without the teen's request.

Respect your teen rider

Provide a welcoming, professional experience. No inappropriate conversation, advances, or discrimination.
